Job summary

Prism Electric seeks a SRS Field Technician to perform high, medium, and low voltage testing on electrical power equipment while consulting manuals and engineering teams to troubleshoot and optimize performance.

You will prepare detailed test and maintenance reports, troubleshoot and repair substation equipment, and travel as needed. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift heavy objects are required.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen is required.
• Background check is required.
• Overtime and travel may be required.
• Must be able to climb ladders and lift up to 70 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Experience with test equipment: Megger, CT ratio, Hi-Pot, and Power Factor equipment.
• Knowledge of circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motors, PTs, and CCVTs.

SRS Field Technician - Prism Electric

Responsibilities

• Performing High, Medium, and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment.
• Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
• Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components in a substation.

Requirements

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
• Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
• Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.
• Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
• Experience with the following test equipment: Power Factor , Ductor, Megger, CT ration & saturation, and Hi-Pot
• Knowledge of circuit breakers, transforms, switchgear, motors, PTs, and CCVTs

Preferred

• NETA certified a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
