Job summary

Stratolaunch seeks a Propulsion Engineer to lead SRM development and integration for hypersonic flight applications from Mojave, CA. The role acts as SRM Responsible Engineer, collaborating with suppliers through design, development, testing, vehicle integration and flight operations.

The candidate will have aerospace system integration experience, participate in technical reviews, and travel to supplier facilities as needed to support key manufacturing and test operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with design, development, testing and operation of solid rocket motors.
• Experience with ballistics, thermal and/or combustion modelling.
• Experience with supplier management, providing technical oversight for the larger team.
• Knowledge of solid rocket motor manufacturing processes such as composite case winding and propellant handling.
• Ability to analyze and communicate post-test data results.
• Ability to communicate complex technical challenges to varied audiences.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage requirements and interfaces throughout SRM design, development, testing, assembly, integration and flight operations.
• Provide oversight of SRM supplier activities to ensure requirements are met.
• Conduct weekly meetings and coordinate technical reviews with the SRM supplier.
• Travel to supplier facilities for on-site observation of manufacturing and test operations.
• Conduct post-test data analyses and interpret results with the SRM supplier.
• Develop system performance models in support of GN&C.
• Perform ballistics and thermal analyses to verify supplier efforts.
• Coordinate SRM deliveries, receiving and inspection and support SRM installation and flight tests.
