Tandym-Group is seeking a Sr WordPress Web Engineer to advance content experiences across WordPress, React, and GraphQL in a hybrid Manhattan setting. The role focuses on scalable content workflows, front-end experiences, and API-driven solutions for a high-traffic web platform.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in WordPress, strong GraphQL skills, and experience running WordPress at scale. This is a day-shift, hybrid role with three in-office days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on WordPress engineering experience, including custom plugin and theme development in PHP.
• Strong GraphQL experience, including schema design, resolver implementation, caching, and API documentation.
• Experience running WordPress at scale on a high-traffic platform.
• Experience integrating WordPress with REST and GraphQL APIs, scheduled jobs, webhooks, third-party content feeds, and cache layers.
• Deep knowledge of WordPress content modeling, including custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies, Gutenberg blocks, publishing workflows, redirects, and search indexing.

Responsibilities

Desired Skills

• Experience in media, publishing, streaming, newsroom, or other high-traffic consumer web environments.
• Experience with live-streaming or VOD integrations, DRM-protected content, identity and authentication, and subscription or entitlement flows.
• Experience with Node.js, build tooling, CI/CD, Docker, cloud services, and observability tooling.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or search platforms, CDN and image optimization, ad-tech, analytics, and community or commenting platforms.
• Experience supporting mobile teams through GraphQL contracts, mocks, schema introspection, versioning, and integration testing.
• Familiarity with performance or load testing and cache invalidation strategies.
