Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Sr Welder Lead to direct welding activities in the manufacturing environment. You will lead welders, ensure quality, and work under a Production Supervisor to meet project specifications.

The role requires 5+ years of Aluminum MIG/TIG experience, ability to mirror weld, and readiness to work extended hours and rotating shifts while maintaining safety and accuracy. ITAR compliance and E-Verify participation are noted.

Qualifications

• Five (5) plus years of Aluminum MIG / TIG experience.
• Demonstrated skills based on the results of the welding test.
• Must be able to mirror weld.
• Must be able to certify as a Welder in accordance with M&L policies and standards.
• Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours as needed to accomplish the task or work with little or no prior notification.
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to understand people-related issues, provide counsel and partner with HR and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Lead welders and provide direction for MIG/TIG welding on aluminum.
• Ensure welding work self-inspection meets quality requirements and specifications.
• Read blueprints/sketches and use shop mathematics to perform tasks.
• Identify tools needed for assigned tasks and troubleshoot welding equipment.
• Understand and utilize engineering drawings, shop orders and written/verbal instructions.
• Maintain high accuracy, efficiency, and safety to meet quality standards.

About This Role

A Sr Welder Lead under the direction of a Production Supervisor, leads and directs welding activities and ensures quality standards are met in the welding department.

Responsibilities

• Aid in providing direction for welders in the following areas
  • Best practices for MIG / TIG welding thin gauge aluminum
  • How to self-inspect work performed to ensure that work meets the Quality requirements and specifications.
  • How to read blueprints/ sketches and use shop mathematics
  • How to identify tools needed for the assigned task
  • How to troubleshoot tools and welding equipment
  • How to understand and utilize Engineering drawings, sketches, shop orders and written and verbal instructions
  • Maintains high level of accuracy, efficiency and safety, ensure quality standards are met
• Performs other job related duties as assigned by management; This may include welding on the craft when business needs require it.

Education

High school graduate or GED certificate.
