The Senior – Welder-Fabricator is a highly skilled tradesperson specializing in creating metal components and structures using qualified welding and fabrication techniques.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Layout fabrication projects according to prints, primarily using pre-cut parts.
• Select appropriate materials for projects based on prints.
• Fit and assemble metal components according to specifications.
• Identify and apply the correct qualified welding techniques for each weld process.
• Install insulation on steel surfaces with welds and anchors when required.
• Complete welding tasks to support product sales, efficiency, quality, profitability, and on-time delivery goals.
• Perform tasks efficiently with attention to detail and quality.
• Set up and operate all welding equipment according to material specifications.
• Problem-solve and adapt during fabrication processes.
• Maintain a commitment to workplace safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of welding and fabrication experience required.
• Certifications such as CWS, CWI, CWE, CRWT are preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of arc, MIG, TIG, and gas welding procedures, tools, and equipment used in structural repairs of light and heavy equipment, including tanks made of various steels and aluminum.
• Understanding of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and regulations related to welding operations.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills, including analysis, interpretation, and reasoning.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships across the organization.
• Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools, power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torches.
• Willingness to work overtime as necessary.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands; reach; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; talk; hear; see.
• Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Exposure to hot/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risks, and chemicals.
• Work environment may be noisy.
