Job summary

American Express is seeking a Senior Visual Motion Designer to craft compelling digital experiences that blend visual design with motion storytelling across web, mobile, product, marketing and brand touchpoints.

You will collaborate with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Content Strategists, Developers, and Marketing to translate complex ideas into polished narratives and uphold enterprise-scale design system standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in Visual Design, Motion Design, Product Design, or related fields.
• Experience creating digital product experiences, animations, and brand storytelling assets.
• Proven experience developing and working within large-scale design systems.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and prototyping tools (ProtoPie, Principle, Framer).
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and interaction design.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams to bring designs to life.

Our client is seeking a Senior Visual Motion Designer to create compelling, customer-centered digital experiences that blend exceptional visual design with sophisticated motion storytelling. This role requires a highly skilled designer who can transform complex ideas into engaging visual narratives across web, mobile, product, marketing, and brand experiences.

The ideal candidate combines outstanding visual craft, advanced motion design expertise, interactive prototyping skills, and deep experience working within and evolving enterprise-scale design systems. This designer will collaborate closely with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Content Strategists, Developers, and Marketing teams to deliver polished experiences that elevate the American Express brand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Motion Design & Visual Storytelling

• Design and produce high-quality motion graphics, animations, transitions, and micro-interactions for digital products and marketing experiences.
• Create compelling visual narratives that communicate complex concepts through motion and interaction.
• Develop motion frameworks and guidelines that ensure consistency across customer touchpoints.
• Translate brand strategy into visually engaging motion experiences.
• Deliver pixel-perfect visual designs with exceptional attention to detail, typography, color, composition, and hierarchy.
• Establish and maintain high standards of visual quality across digital experiences.
• Create presentation-ready design assets, storyboards, and concept explorations.
• Champion modern design trends while ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand standards.

Prototyping & Interaction Design

• Build advanced interactive prototypes that demonstrate user flows, transitions, and motion behaviors.
• Rapidly prototype concepts to validate ideas and communicate design intent to stakeholders.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of interactive experiences.

Design Systems

• Contribute to and evolve enterprise-scale design systems and component libraries.
• Define motion standards, interaction patterns, and animation principles within the design system.
• Ensure consistency, scalability, and accessibility across digital products.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to maintain design system adoption and governance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with UX, Product Management, Engineering, Brand, and Marketing stakeholders.
• Present concepts and design rationale to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Provide design mentorship and contribute to a culture of design excellence.
• Advocate for user-centered design and motion best practices throughout the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of professional experience in Visual Design, Motion Design, Product Design, or related fields.
• Expertise in creating digital product experiences, animations, micro-interactions, and brand storytelling assets.
• Proven experience developing and working within large-scale design systems.
• Advanced proficiency with:
  • Figma
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • ProtoPie, Principle, Framer, or similar prototyping tools
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and interaction design.
