Job summary

Amazon Hardlines is seeking a Senior Vendor Manager who will own the P&L and key vendor relationships in Business Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS). The Senior Vendor Manager will drive the performance of vendor partners across inventory management, marketing, merchandising, pricing, operations, and finance to lead a category within BISS.

You will build strong vendor relationships, negotiate terms, forecast inventory, develop marketing programs, and deliver a best-in-class customer

Qualifications

Amazon Hardlines is looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Vendor Manager who will own the P&L and relationships with some of the largest vendors in Business Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS). The Senior Vendor Managers will utilize a wide range of skills and work across major functional areas such as inventory management, marketing, merchandising, pricing, operations, and finance to drive the performance of vendor partners and will also act as the vertical lead for a category within Business Industrial & Scientific Supplies (BISS). As a Senior Vendor Manager, you will be accountable for business results across the vendors and categories you manage. Your direct responsibility will be to manage performance of the product portfolio including developing vendor relationships, negotiating terms and contracts, expanding product selection, setting prices, setting inventory forecasts, developing marketing programs, driving sales and margin improvements, and creating a best-in-class customer experiences. The successful candidate will be able to take their broad skill-set and experience across multiple facets of retail to drive a successful business. They will be able to deliver results at both a strategic and tactical level across all aspects of the business, innovate and overcome hurdles, and achieve profitable long-term growth. They will also have strong verbal and written communication skills and work effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Key job responsibilities

  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets by executing annual and ongoing vendor negotiations.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the industry, business trends, events, and continually monitor both industry and competitor developments.
  • Maximize Amazon’s business and financial profitability through selection optimization and expansion opportunities.
  • Have an understanding of customer needs and use that knowledge to advocate for, and drive delivery of, improvements that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience.
  • Build vendor/brand relationships - be the primary point of contact for vendor selection on-boarding, escalations, and negotiations.
  • Coordinate across cross-functional teams and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, all while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Have a complete understanding (inclusive of the strategic context) of internal and external variables that impact your business. This includes owning forecasting, analyzing, understanding, and reporting on the business.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
  • Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
