Sr. UNIX/Linux Monitoring Engineer (no C2C candidates please)

Summary:

• Tier One Technologies is seeking a Sr. UNIX/Linux Monitoring Engineer to support our US Government client.
• This hybrid Contract-to-Hire position will be located in Eagan, MN.
• SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities:

• Develop tools to monitor Cloud Based system and applications for all platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Focus on enhancing customer workflows through Python scripting, ensuring communication via APIs, optimizing cloud performance, Postgres migrations, Zabbix monitoring, and Splunk Observability Cloud troubleshooting.
• Ensure seamless communication between software applications with API experience, involving interpreting, creating, and troubleshooting APIs promptly to address any potential issues.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure performance by building and troubleshooting monitoring systems, proactively addressing monitoring-related issues.
• Lead the Postgres database migration to ensure a smooth migration process, maintaining data integrity, and minimizing downtime effectively.
• Improve operational efficiency by utilizing Zabbix for network and server monitoring, automation, and proactive issue resolution through customized alert configurations.
• Boost system observability and troubleshooting capabilities using Splunk Observability Cloud, with API integration for efficient data extraction and analysis, will also be part of your day-to-day tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of applicable experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Expert knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems.
• Prior experience working with AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, and Neustar.
• Proven Python scripting experience with capability to develop, customize, and adapt scripts to meet specific customer requirements.
• Advanced skills in API utilization, able to interpret, create, and troubleshoot API issues proficiently.
• Strong knowledge in Cloud technologies (Azure/AWS/GCP) with the ability to build and troubleshoot monitoring solutions effectively.
• Hands-on experience with Postgres DB, particularly in migration tasks.
• Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring system and a background in automation skills.
• Knowledge of Splunk Observability Cloud is preferred, and experience with APIs in this area would be advantageous.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and customer support skills.
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
• Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), and not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in last 5 years.
• Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years.
