Nutanix is seeking a Senior UCC Engineer in San Jose, CA, hybrid. You will design, deploy, and maintain the core collaboration stack and workplace technologies, including Zoom and Slack administration, and AV system design for large conference spaces.

Formación

• 3+ years of hands-on engineering/administration experience in Unified Communications, SaaS collaboration tools, and AV technology environments.

The Unified Communication & Collaboration (UCC) team is responsible for empowering employee productivity through intuitive, highly reliable collaboration technology and seamless workspace experiences. We oversee the global VoIP technology, engineering, administration, and support for enterprise collaboration tools (primarily Zoom and Slack), as well as state-of-the-art A/V conference room systems.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior UCC Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the system design, SaaS integrations, administration, and ongoing maintenance for our core collaboration stack and physical workplace technologies. You will play a critical role in engineering and deploying Zoom and Slack solutions, designing AV systems for complex conference spaces, partnering with Workplace/Real Estate teams on office buildouts, and maintaining robust third‑party SaaS integrations.

The ideal candidate possesses deep hands‑on technical expertise, a strong engineering mindset, project management capabilities, and a passion for delivering an outstanding employee technology experience.

Key Responsibilities

AV & Conference Room Engineering

• Design & Deployment: Partner closely with Corporate Real Estate and Workplace teams on office buildouts, expansions, and room upgrades. Design, spec, and test AV hardware for large conference rooms, event spaces, and Zoom Room setups.
• Hardware & Systems Expertise: Work with hardware ecosystems, including QSC systems, DSP, Logitech, DTEN, and Yealink for Zoom Rooms deployment.
• Maintenance & Escalations: Serve as Tier 3 escalation for AV and workplace technology issues globally. Perform preventative maintenance, hardware lifecycle management, and firmware/software update cycles.
• Events & Operational Support: Support company-wide broadcasts, town halls, and high-profile events.

SaaS Engineering & Administration

• Platform Ownership: Serve as an expert administrator for Zoom and Slack.
• Zoom Ecosystem Depth: Provide expert‑level administration and configuration across Zoom's suite: Zoom Rooms, Zoom Phone, Zoom Contact Center, Zoom Workspace Reservation, and Zoom Visitor Management.
• Integration Management: Evaluate, approve, test, manage, and maintain third‑party app integrations and workflows for both Slack and Zoom.
• Rigorous Testing: Conduct thorough engineering evaluations and feature testing in sandbox environments to fully understand functionality, security, and setting implications prior to rolling out new capabilities company‑wide.

Operations, Process & Collaboration

• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively across IT Operations, Network Engineering, NOC, Information Security, and Corporate Real Estate teams.
• Project Management: Manage timeline delivery for project‑based initiatives, system upgrades, and global deployments.
• Process & Automation: Follow structured workflows (intake approval UAT feature release). Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and optimize support scaling globally.
• Documentation & Training: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, room schematics, architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and end‑user instructions. Conduct knowledge‑sharing and cross‑training for team members.
• Service Level Agreements: Manage tickets via ServiceNow, ensuring rapid resolution and adherence to established SLAs.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 3+ years of hands‑on engineering/administration experience in Unified Communications, SaaS collaboration tools, and AV technology environments.
• Zoom & Slack Expertise: Deep administrative expertise in Slack and Zoom platforms. Specialized expertise in Zoom Rooms, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Contact Center.
• AV Hardware & Design: Demonstrated experience designing and troubleshooting complex AV systems, with hands‑on familiarity with QSC, Logitech, DTEN, and Yealink hardware.
• Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of core networking concepts impacting AV and voice/video traffic (WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, QoS).
• Integrations & Security: Experience managing SaaS integrations, OAuth, and identity/access management (Okta).
• Project & Team Collaboration: Proven project management capabilities with the ability to manage competing priorities, adhere to deadlines, and work effectively across cross‑functional departments.
• Service Management: Experience with IT service management platforms like ServiceNow.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python or scripting languages for process automation and data analytics.
• Broad familiarity with alternative enterprise collaboration platforms (Webex, Microsoft Teams).
• Experience with MDM solutions (Jamf, Intune) for desktop and mobile hardware deployment.
• Experience designing workspace management, desk booking, and visitor management solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $104,000 and $208,000/year. Actual base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
