Sr. Transportation Project Manager - Roadway

Join us to apply for the Sr. Transportation Project Manager - Roadway role at CDM Smith.

Position Overview

CDM Smith is hiring in South Carolina! This position can be based in Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville. We are seeking an experienced, business development-oriented Sr. Project Manager to join our Transportation group. With over 50 years of transportation services in South Carolina, we aim to expand our market share with SCDOT and municipal clients. Flexible and remote work options are available.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage South Carolina transportation design projects, including bicycle/pedestrian, transit, traffic, planning, and roadway widening projects.
• Coordinate meetings and communications with major clients.
• Develop new business and maintain relationships with transportation leaders in SCDOT, municipalities, and contractors.
• Lead strategic pursuits, proposal development, and client meetings.
• Prepare and oversee design and construction contract specifications.
• Manage project budgets, scope, schedule, and quality procedures.
• Participate in professional societies relevant to clients or the industry.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of related experience.
• PMP, CCM, or DBIA certification (within 12 months of hire).
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally (up to 10%).

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven success in winning and managing SCDOT projects.
• Experience with engineering design and pre-qualification with SCDOT is a plus.
• Professional engineering (PE) license preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Strong project management skills, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
