Job summary

Estrada Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Test Analyst to support a major legacy application modernization for a public-sector client. The role is hybrid in West Sacramento, CA, with 2-3 days onsite per week.

You will lead test execution, defect management, and traceability, collaborate across business, functional, and technical teams, and develop SQL-based data validation and testing artifacts to ensure quality throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Test Analyst with large organizations and modernization experience.
• 10+ years reviewing, developing, and/or contributing to test artifacts and traceability.
• 8+ years using Test ALM tools (JAMA) to manage requirements, tests, defects, and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with business, functional, and technical testers to set test goals and priorities.
• Manage application defects, including validation, follow-up, solution verification, escalation, and closure.
• Produce test execution and defect-management metrics (burndown, trends, reports).
• Review and contribute to project deliverables and testing artifacts (BRs, requirements, test plans, test cases, transition plans, TRMs).
• Use ALM tools to document requirements, design specs, test cases, defects, and traceability.
• Develop and execute SQL queries against large databases to validate test data for applications and interfaces.
• Participate in testing activities supporting modernization of complex legacy apps.
• Collaborate with project teams throughout testing lifecycle.

Senior Test Analyst - Legacy Application Modernization (Ref: 5830)

Location: West Sacramento, CA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite per week mandatory
Engagement: Consulting Contract 12-36 months
Tax Term: W2 rate 45-55 DOE or C2C $50-60 DOE

We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Analyst to support a large-scale legacy application modernization initiative for a major public-sector organization. The consultant will work closely with business, functional, and technical testing teams and will be responsible for test execution coordination, defect management, traceability, metrics, SQL-based data validation, and review and development of key testing deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with business, functional, and technical testers to establish test execution goals, priorities, and objectives.
• Manage application defects, including validation, follow-up, solution verification, escalation, and closure.
• Produce test execution and defect-management metrics, including burndown charts, trends, and related reporting.
• Review, develop, and provide input to project deliverables and testing artifacts, including:
  • Business Requirements and Business Rules.
  • Technical and Service Requirements.
  • Test Strategies and Test Plans.
  • Test Cases.
  • Transition Plans.
  • Requirements Traceability Matrices.
• Use Application Lifecycle Management/testing tools to document requirements, design specifications, test cases, defects, and end-to-end traceability.
• Develop and execute SQL queries against large databases to identify, validate, and analyze test data for applications and interfaces.
• Participate in testing activities supporting implementation and modernization of complex legacy applications.
• Collaborate with project, development, business, and technical teams throughout the testing lifecycle.

Mandatory Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience within the last 12 years working as a Test Analyst with large organizations and leading or participating in technical implementation or modernization of legacy applications.
• 10+ years within the last 12 years reviewing, developing, and/or contributing to business requirements, business rules, technical/service requirements, test strategies, test plans, test cases, transition plans, and traceability matrices.
• 8+ years within the last 12 years using Test Application Lifecycle Management tools such as JAMA to manage requirements, specifications, test cases, defects, and project traceability.
• 8+ years within the last 12 years working hands-on with large databases and writing SQL queries to identify and validate data for application and interface testing.
• Ability to work onsite in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week as part of a hybrid mandatory work model.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience as a Test Analyst supporting a large public pension or retirement system.
• Experience leading or participating in the technical implementation of pension- or retirement-related software development projects.
• 5+ years within the last 12 years designing, developing, and executing automated testing using frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, and/or Robot Framework.
