Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a skilled Terminal Manager to lead dock operations and manage a team of drivers and dock workers at our terminal. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and customer-focused service in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has prior LTL management experience, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and a willingness to work approximately 50 hours per week is expected.

Qualifications

• Prior LTL management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, and mentoring employees.
• Desire to deliver excellent customer service.
• High aptitude for technology and processes.
• Ability to multi-task while staying detail oriented.
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work ~50 hours per week.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dock operations at the terminal.
• Manage loading/unloading freight, forklift traffic, and palletized freight handling.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff.
• Lead drivers and dock workers with accountability for performance.
• Monitor dock production to meet or exceed KPI goals.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure compliance with company operational models.
• Support a culture of excellence in product quality for customers.
• Flex to cover varying shifts as needed.

Terminal Manager

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee dock operations at the terminal
• This includes the process of loading & unloading freight, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers and dock workers
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
• Ensure company operational model compliance
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
• Flexibility to work varying shifts as business levels increase
