An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber optic construction projects select projects may require additional crew members and or the use of company vehicles Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1 2 weeks at a time away from home Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed
Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities This will include measurements of attachment heights span distances angles etcSubmit organized detailed data for each project that could include maps field notes and digital imagesMaintain good customer and public relations by maintaining a professional appearance being courteous and communicating in a clear respectful mannerMaintain a positive company image including the appearance of the crew vehicles and work areasHire train motivate and supervise a crew of up to ten 10 employees of diverse backgrounds and skill levels select projectsEffectively manage daily work and crew to meet safety quality production expense control and crew management goals select projectsOrganize resources and prioritize work to complete job within established time frameOperate vehicles to transport material equipment and crew to and from job siteincluding utility vehicles UTVs and trailer towing as needed select projectsCollect record and submit accurate complete and timely data related to timekeeping payroll and work performedPromote and enforce safety by conducting daily briefings weekly safety meetings ensuring safe work practices are followed monitoring and maintaining tool condition and ensuring all drivers of company vehicles are qualified through company programsProperly maintain all vehicles equipment and tools used by the crewselect projectsMaintain adequate inventory of equipment tools materials and suppliesEnforce and comply with all company andor customer required policies and procedures including but not limited to crew member coaching disciplinary action a Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace prohibition of harassment discrimination and retaliationOperate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer digital camera measuring tools and Personal Protective EquipmentWork professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customersCommunicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management teamWork safely and independent of supervision
High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferredBasic knowledge of telecommunications andor electrical distribution systems is a plusKnowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plusEnjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs on a regular basisBasic proficiency with computers including the ability to read interpret and follow GPS mapsCrew management experience is a plusAbility to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high quality high paced environmentAbility to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditionsMust have reliable transportationExcellent communication skills; both written and oralPresent a professional appearance and attitudeDemonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientationEmbrace core values of the companyAbility to pass background checkHold a current valid drivers license for at least 3yrsMinimum 1 year of outdoor work related experienceMinimum 1 year working in a role that required following a safety program or safety protocols must provide detailsMinimum 6 months experience working in a quality controlled environment must provide detailsMinimum 6 months experience traveling to various work locations to include occasional overnight staysAbility to work independently with minimal oversight
