Job summary

Osmose Utilities Services Inc. is seeking Field Data Technicians to collect detailed information about electric utility and telecommunications facilities. This outdoor role involves hiking between spans and supporting outside plant engineering and fiber optic construction projects.

Training is provided for all duties, with overnight travel 1–2 weeks at a time and weekends home most of the time. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, basic familiarity with GPS maps, and a

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus.
  • Outdoor work in all weather and lifting 15–20 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Work in outdoor environments collecting field data to support engineering and design of fiber optic facilities.
  • Take measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc.
  • Submit organized data for each project including maps, field notes, and images.
  • Operate and maintain tablets, cameras, and measuring tools.
  • Represent Osmose professionally to clients and project teams.
  • Communicate daily with project management; work safely with minimal supervision.

Overview

Do you like working independently outdoors Are you flexible efficient and in good physical condition Are you comfortable with technology Come work for an organization thats over 90 years strong and still growing Osmose Utilities Services Inc specializes in providing services to the electric utility and telecommunications industries on a national scale We are currently seeking candidates for Field Data Technicians in Tennessee area Field Data Technicians will start at 2450hour plus opportunity for hourly bonus with weekly pay Plus hotel expenses contract specific pay increase living allowance and 4 5hour untaxed reimbursement for vehicle usage

Summary of Position

An Osmose Field Technician is responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment It is an outdoor position that requires hiking between spans of utility poles to capture data that supports outside plant engineering and various fiber optic construction projects Osmose will train the ideal candidate to perform all required duties This position requires routine overnight travel typically 1 2 weeks at a time away from home Home most weekends with occasional out of state assignments which may involve longer stays of up to a month at a time if needed

Responsibilities
  • Work in an outdoor environment to collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities
  • This will include measurements of attachment heights span distances angles etc
  • Submit organized detailed data for each project that could include maps field notes and digital images
  • Operate and maintain equipment that would include tablet computer digital camera measuring tools and Personal Protective Equipment
  • Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers
  • Communicate effectively and on a daily basis with the project management team
  • Work safely and independent of supervision
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical background preferred
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications andor electrical distribution systems is a plus
  • Knowledge of pole design including NESC requirements and general safety practices is a plus
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather and have the desire to actively participate in physically demanding work lifting 15 to 20 lbs on a regular basis
  • Basic proficiency with computers including the ability to read interpret and follow GPS maps
  • Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in an extremely high quality high paced environment
  • Ability to travel and work outside in variable terrain and weather conditions
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude
  • Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation
  • Embrace core values of the company
  • Minimum 1 year of outdoor work related experience
  • Minimum 1 year working in a role that required following a safety program or safety protocols must provide details
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in a quality controlled environment must provide details
  • Minimum 6 months experience traveling to various work locations to include occasional overnight stays
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
