Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Technical Program Manager based in United States.

This is a senior technical program leadership opportunity focused on delivering complex quantum hardware systems on schedule and within budget.
You will own the program lifecycle, from master planning and resource allocation through integration, validation, and delivery.
The role supports a high-stakes U.S. government program, requiring strong communication with external stakeholders and disciplined execution.
You will work across engineering and technical teams to manage dependencies, remove blockers, and keep critical milestones on track.
Success will require proactive risk management, operational rigor, and the ability to resolve complex cross-functional challenges quickly.
This is a highly collaborative environment where program leadership directly contributes to advancing cutting-edge hardware technology.
The position is remote within the U.S., with regular monthly or quarterly travel to Toronto required.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and maintain the master program schedule, ensuring subsystem milestones are clearly defined, tracked, and delivered without unnecessary cost overruns.
  • Serve as the primary program contact for the U.S. government stakeholder, providing clear updates on progress, risks, milestones, and other critical developments.
  • Identify technical, operational, and organizational blockers early and coordinate rapid solutions to prevent delays.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across engineering and technical teams, ensuring dependencies are understood and integration activities happen efficiently and on schedule.
  • Manage program resources, including personnel and specialized equipment, to prioritize critical-path activities and support timely delivery.
  • Continuously assess program and system risks, anticipate potential schedule or budget impacts, and develop recovery strategies before issues affect delivery.
  • Improve processes, workflows, and validation practices to increase the reliability, efficiency, and repeatability of hardware development and deployment.
  • Coordinate complex hardware-software development activities while maintaining accountability for timelines, budgets, and overall program outcomes.
  • Support vendor and supply-chain activities as needed to ensure third-party deliverables remain aligned with program milestones and requirements.
  • Communicate program priorities, decisions, dependencies, and risks clearly to technical teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Promote disciplined execution, accountability, and effective collaboration across teams working toward shared technical objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical project or program management, ideally involving the delivery of complex hardware-software systems.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering programs for U.S. government organizations such as DARPA, ARPA, NIST, or similar agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, including Agile, Gantt scheduling, and Critical Path Analysis, particularly in hardware environments.
  • Proven experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and complex technical supply chains.
  • Exceptional leadership and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to establish accountability, maintain schedule discipline, and resolve team-level friction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, leadership, and government stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience in high-stakes industries such as aerospace, satellite engineering, quantum computing, or other environments where schedule performance has significant mission impact.
  • PMP certification or an equivalent project management credential is a plus.
  • Experience managing vendors and defining tool or deliverable acceptance criteria is preferred.
  • Familiarity with automated validation workflows and efforts to reduce technical delivery and deployment timelines is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment while collaborating effectively across disciplines.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
  • Fully remote work opportunity for candidates based in the United States.
  • Regular monthly or quarterly travel to Toronto as part of the role.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced quantum computing hardware and highly ambitious technical programs.
  • Collaborative environment bringing together engineers, researchers, technical experts, and program leaders.
  • Inclusive, equitable workplace committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for employees from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to accessibility and reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process.
  • Opportunity to work on challenging, high-impact programs with potential to advance technologies addressing complex global challenges.
