Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing conveyors, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient with industrial diagnostics and welding/fabrication.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at various heights.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated package sorting, conveyor, and material handling systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures using schematics and manuals to restore operation.
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
  • Support continuous operation through inspections, testing, adjustments, and proactive maintenance.
  • Adhere to safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs automated package sorting, conveyor, and material handling systems. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment in accordance with established FedEx maintenance procedures. Diagnoses equipment failures using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to restore system functionality and minimize operational disruptions. Performs welding and fabrication repairs on equipment, components, and support structures as required. Supports continuous operation of sortation systems through inspections, testing, adjustments, and proactive maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High school diploma/GED

Minimum Experience

Four (4) years of maintenance experience, including at least twenty-four (24) months as a FedEx Sort Systems Technician or twenty-four (24) months maintaining comparable automated material handling and conveyor systems in a commercial or industrial environment. Experience must include troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of conveyor systems, electrical systems, electronic controls, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Strong experience with industrial equipment diagnostics, automation components, and welding/fabrication repairs is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and procedures used in industrial maintenance environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conveyor and sortation systems, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills involving electrical circuits, motor controls, sensors, relays, electronic components, VFDs, and automated material handling equipment.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, actuators, air systems, and related controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic system layouts.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and maneuver heavy sort-related components, parts, and equipment with appropriate equipment and/or assistance.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to access equipment by crawling, laying, standing, and/or climbing at various heights both above and below ground level.
  • Ability to safely perform maintenance activities in a fast-paced operational environment while adhering to company safety standards and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience maintaining automated conveyor, sortation, and material handling systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with industrial electronics and automated controls.
  • Welding certification or demonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, or Stick welding.
  • Experience supporting high-volume distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse operations.
Job Conditions

Must be willing to work odd work weeks, o/t, holidays & rotating shifts. Valid driver's license required. Non-covered safety sensitive position; ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Pay Transparency

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. Pay

US pay range: $31.24 - $38.205/hour
