Job summary

Manay CPA in Marietta, GA is seeking a skilled tax professional to prepare and review complex federal and state returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, trusts, and estates, including multi-state filings.

You will provide advanced tax planning and consulting, explain positions to clients, ensure compliance with federal and state laws, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with accounting and advisory teams to improve workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent, extensive experience preparing individual tax returns.
• CPA license or Enrolled Agent credential is a big plus; pursuing licensure encouraged.
• Experience with full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates, including multi-state returns.
• Provide advanced tax planning, research, and strategic consulting to help clients optimize their tax positions.
• Conduct paid tax consultations with clients, explaining tax positions, planning opportunities, and compliance requirements in a clear and professional manner.
• Ensure full compliance with US federal, state, and local tax laws, including timely filings, estimated payments, extensions, and quarterly projections.
• Respond to client inquiries and notices from taxing authorities; support IRS, state, and local examinations by gathering documentation and preparing responses.
• Review tax returns prepared by junior staff and provide technical guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
• Research complex tax issues, monitor regulatory changes, and apply updated regulations appropriately to client situations.
• Maintain accurate, organized client tax files, documentation, and workpapers using tax and accounting software.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support accounting, advisory, payroll, or operations teams during off-peak periods or as business needs arise.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax preparation workflows and contribute to process and efficiency improvements.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment while delivering high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus
• Minimum 3 years of recent and extensive experience preparing individual tax returns and forms is a must; business return experience is a strong plus
• CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is a big plus; candidates actively pursuing their CPA license with a clear plan toward licensure are also encouraged to apply
• Previous experience in full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping is a strong plus
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state income tax laws; international tax exposure is a big plus
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and tax software such as UltraTax (or similar)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Dependable, self-driven, and able to work independently and stay on task
• Positive, team-oriented personality with the ability to mentor junior staff
• High perseverance and end-result-oriented work habits
• Fast learner with the ability to master new concepts and regulations quickly
