Job summary

Citizens Bank seeks a senior data engineer to lead design, modeling and implementation of enterprise data warehousing activities. You will develop data warehouses, data marts, and operational data stores using ETL/ELT, collaborating with application architects to enhance systems and remediate code.

You will work on designing data pipelines, mapping source-to-target data, and implementing transformations to meet business requirements, while supporting warehouse users and remediation projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in analytics, mathematics, statistics or computer science.
  • Hands on experience building data solutions in big data/cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, PIG, HBase, HiveQL).
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Talend, Datastage, Informatica, Sqoop; experience with ETL frameworks.
  • RDBMS experience with Teradata, Oracle, MS-SQL, DB2, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.
  • Scripting (shell, SQL, Python, Java, Spark, Scala).
  • Experience with AWS services (S3, RDS, Glue, Athena).
  • Experience with scheduling tools (Autosys, Tidal, Oozie).
  • Version control tools (Bitbucket with Jira, SVN).
  • Experience with Windows/Unix/Linux environments.

Responsibilities

  • Be a strong contributor in implementing data integration architecture and solutions.
  • Conduct source system/data analysis and data profiling.
  • Build robust data pipelines to collect, process and compute metrics from financial sources.
  • Design data pipelines and map data from source to target with transformation rules.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to meet data demands.
  • Execute unit tests of data in target containers and validate results.
  • Coordinate with business users for UAT and with operations for deployments.

4 Days in the office from any of our locations in RI, Iselin NJ, MA, Pittsburgh PA, Nashville TN, and couple other locations

While in this position, you will work independently while engaging in the design, model and implementation of enterprise data warehousing activities in support of projects and defect remediation process. You will also, participate in and lead segments in the programming and configuration of warehouses on database, and provide independent support to warehouse users. You will also assist with designing, implementing and supporting solutions that meet business requirements related to data warehouses, data marts or operational data stores primarily using ETL. Lastly, you will work with application architects to implement enhancements to systems and remediate existing code.

Primary responsibilities include
  • Be a strong contributor in implementing data integration architecture and solutions.
  • Conduct source system/data analysis and data profiling.
  • Build robust data pipelines to collect, process and compute different metrics from various financial sources, adhering to quality and development standards.
  • Design application architecture / technical design and articulate the data pipeline solutions to team members.
  • Data mapping from source to target and define transformation rules that meet the models created by data Architects.
  • Collaborate with cross functional team members as necessary and come up with optimal solutions that meet data demands.
  • Execute unit test of data populated in target data container, validate expected result and ensure quality & accuracy.
  • Coordinate with business users for user acceptance test and with operations team for code deployment to upper environments.
  • Follow change management team stipulations on path to production requirements and strictly adhere to the compliance and regulatory needs.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
  • Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science
    • Hands on experience in building data solutions in big data / cloud platforms.
    • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, PIG, Hbase, Hiveql etc.)
    • Experienced in ETL/ELT tools such as Talend, Datastage, Informatica, and Sqoop as well as building/enhancing ETL framework.
    • RDBMS experience in either of Teradata, Oracle, MS-SQL, DB2, RedShift, Snowflakes, etc.
    • Scripting language (shell scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Java , Spark, Scala)
    • Experience with AWS cloud native services such as S3, RDS, Glue, Athena, etc.
    • Worked with any of the scheduling tools (Autosys, Tidal, Oozie)
    • SCM tool such as Bitbucket with Jira, Starteam or SVN.
    • Experience working with various operating systems (Windows, Unix/Linux, IBM Mainframe)
    • Strong communicator and collaborator with attention to details.
    • Performance tuning and optimization of code and peer code reviews.
    • 5+ years of professional work experience as described above.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • BigData Technology/AWS/Agile Certifications
    • Data engineering experience for Data science projects where Machine learning is used (R, SAS, etc.)
    • Experience in the financial services industry, especially banking.
    • Business Intelligence/Reporting development experience using tools such as Tableau, Cognos, SAS, etc.
    • Code commits to any Open source data tools.
    • Experience with handling structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
Hours & Work Schedule
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Hybrid schedule: 4 days in office, 1 day WFH is required for this role.

    Pay Transparency

    The salary range for this position is $ 105,100 - $157,680 per yearplus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factorsincluding but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
