Summary of Duties:

The Sr. Systems Engineer serves as a team resource to support IT infrastructure projects and the Microsoft suite of solutions. This person is a key contributor in supporting day-to-day processes, including maintaining Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, Office 365, and user permissions. They participate in operational monitoring as well as the administration of Microsoft systems and 3rd Party Applications. The Sr. Systems Engineer works closely with all members of the IT and Networking Teams. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft solutions, servers, VMware virtualization, and hardware deployment is needed. This position offers opportunities to contribute to the engineering of new systems and the reengineering of existing ones.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility is to develop, implement,and maintain the Microsoft infrastructure to support a high availability in a critical video relay environment.
  • Work effectively with Systems Architects, System Administrators, Project Managers, DBAs, Developers, and management to provide timely execution, support, planning, implementation, and increased availability of business systems. Applicant must be able to participate effectively on team and enterprise projects.
  • Know or quickly learn the technical, business, and working environment through initiative and direction from senior staff and/or peers.
  • Assist in mentoring of team members and co-workers relating to the job function and demonstrate leadership through technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, business knowledge, organizational skills, and professionalism.
  • Maintain vendor support engagement and technical interaction to identify sound technical solutions to meet the requirements of the business.
  • Perform System Administration tasks, in multiple Windows systems from version 2008 to current, on both physical and virtual servers (using VMWare), including troubleshooting and tuning for performance.
  • Provide timely updates to the Sr. Manager of IT regarding ongoing work and issues that arise.
  • Meet regularly with the Sr. Manager of IT to go over team activities.
  • Assist with connectivity issues and VPN setup.
  • Test and evaluate systems to identify issues and drive improvements.
  • Team ownership of AD credential architecture (including redesign and maintenance)
  • Support of end user OKTA configuration and issue resolution.
  • Team ownership of designing and performing Server Large-Lift Upgrades.
  • AD Reporting (using AD Audit Plus tool).
  • End user self-serve capabilities.
  • Team ownership of Integration / maintenance of user identities within AD.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years Microsoft engineeringbackground.
  • 5+ years of server hardware experience.
  • General knowledge of networking technologies and applicationssuch as TCP/IP, LAN/WAN setup, routing protocols.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft tools and analyzing performance issues.
  • Experience with O365 and Azure.
  • MicrosoftCertifications preferred.
  • After hours and on-call support required.
  • Must be willing to engage in and learn deaf culture.

Desired Skills:

  • VideoConferencing / SIP protocol experience.
  • Cohesity Backup Solution experience.
  • Experience working with EMC SAN or Netapp NAS storage is a plus.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or Deaf Culture a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a home office environment.
  • On Camera Video Conferences are part of a normal workday.
  • Position may require travel
  • On-call support as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
  • Sitting, standing, and walking(95-100%)
  • Keyboarding (40-60%)
  • Viewing computer monitor,videophone, and pager requiring close vision (40-60%)
