Job summary

Moog in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, analyze, develop and test complex space-grade systems for NASA and defense applications. You will lead architecture definition, model and simulate system behavior, translate requirements into verification plans, and mentor other engineers.

The role requires strong communication, systems thinking, and experience with Cameo/DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink, and test & integration activities. Onsite work in Buffalo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years in a similar systems/design engineering role.
• Proficiency with Cameo and DOORS; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide systems architecture, interface definition, and requirements validation with internal teams.
• Create system-level models and simulations to support architecture decisions.
• Develop system-level requirements and verify them across components.
• Lead design, integration, and test within Moog’s programs; mentor junior engineers.

Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer

Reporting To: Staff Manager, Systems Design Engineering

Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY

The Space Sector of Moog’s Space and Defense Group (SDG) designs and manufactures systems to survive the harsh environments of space travel. As an industry leader in space avionics, actuation and mechanisms, propulsion, power, structures, and shock and vibration control, Moog has been committed to the space industry for more than 60 years and Moog products have been to every planet.

Our team in the Space Sector’s Actuation Systems Business Unit is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to perform the conceptual design, analysis, development, and testing of complex systems used on NASA, military, and commercial applications. This position requires a high degree of foresight and creativity to anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems. As our Sr. Systems Engineer, you will make critical contributions by holding responsibility for:

• Working closely with the internal program teams to provide the systems architecture, interface definition, and requirements validation.
• Creating system-level models, models as requirements, and simulations necessary to support solution architectures with customers during all stages of the development efforts.
• Developing system level requirements, supporting the decomposition of requirements to component levels, and leading the verification of requirements.
• Communicating on a technical level with customer representatives and suppliers.
• Leading the design process and providing technical leadership within Moog’s program scope.
• Creating concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe the design decisions and analysis results.
• Generating and maintaining test and analysis cases for systems and subsystems.
• Working with other systems engineering team members to generate and maintain traceability of test and analysis cases to requirements.
• Lead system or subsystem-level integration and test.
• Experience with developing Cameo models.
• Experience in laying out system architectures.
• Mentoring younger engineers where and when appropriate.

To be considered for the Sr. Systems Engineer role, here's what you will typically need to bring with you:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar systems/design engineering role.
• Demonstrated strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with requirements management tools, preferably Cameo and DOORS (Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System).
• Proficiency with modeling and analysis tools, preferably MATLAB/Simulink.
• Proven specific capabilities/competencies in requirements management, verification and validation methods, and integration and test.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary Range Transparency

Buffalo, NY $110,000.00–$150,000.00 Annually
