Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) seeks a Sr Systems Engineer to design, develop, test, and implement software and systems for hardware and networking devices. The role includes defining system design requirements and ensuring improvements are implemented to boost efficiency.

The position operates on a 9/80 schedule (nine-hour days Mon–Thu, Fridays alternating off; every other Friday is an 8-hour day) with hybrid work in US-CA locations such as Folsom and Healdsburg, and

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support.
• Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations.
• Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.
• Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures.
• Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
• May have sole responsibility for projects and participate in disaster recovery exercises.

Job Summary

Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements software that runs computers and technologies like smart devices, networking equipment, or machinery | Determines systems software design requirements | Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency | Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures | May participate in all aspects of software development, from detailed programming to high-level system design.

We are on a 9/80 schedule (9 hour days Monday - Thursday, alternating Fridays off, opposite Fridays 8 hour days).

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience
• Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Analytical thinking skills. Problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.

Pay Range (USD)

$105,000.00 - $142,000.00

Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
