General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) is seeking a software/ systems engineer to design, develop, test, and implement software for devices and machinery. You will determine system design requirements and ensure improvements are tracked to increase efficiency across projects.

The role may involve 9/80 schedule and potential 25% travel. Strong problem solving and independent work are valued, with opportunity to lead projects and mentor teammates as needed.

Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience.
• Discipline/Major: Engineering degree required.
• Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support.
• Designs, implements, installs, maintains, and administers infrastructures including hardware, software, and various configurations.
• Monitors overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately.
• Performs root cause analysis on failed components and implements corrective measures.
• Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.
• May have sole responsibility for projects and participate in disaster recovery exercises.

Job Summary

Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements software that runs computers and technologies like smart devices, networking equipment, or machinery | Determines systems software design requirements | Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency | Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures | May participate in all aspects of software development, from detailed programming to high-level system design.

• We are on a 9/80 schedule (9 hour days Monday - Thursday, alternating Fridays off, opposite Fridays 8 hour days)

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel likely.

Pay Range (USD)

$105,000.00 - $142,000.00

Additional Compensation

Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
