Job summary

Vaco Technology is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Indianapolis area team. The role focuses on administering, maintaining, and improving IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, networks, security, and cloud platforms.

You will work primarily on Windows and Linux environments, support Azure, manage Active Directory and DNS, and help secure the data center. On-call duties evenings and weekends may be required as part of support coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of systems administration experience.
• Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux.
• Experience with VMware, servers, networking, Palo Alto firewalls, DHCP, and DNS.
• Azure cloud infrastructure and applications experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows and Linux physical and virtual server environments.
• Support Azure cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot servers and operating systems.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, and security groups.
• Maintain network infrastructure including Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, antivirus, and malware protection.
• Monitor system performance, applications, logs, backups, and data integrity.
• Respond to security incidents and perform vulnerability/security assessments.
• Support data center monitoring and infrastructure systems.
• Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge-base materials.
• Provide occasional on-call support, including evenings and weekends.
