Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a Sr. Systems Control Engineer - Automation in Monrovia, CA to lead control architecture design and implementation for semi‑to fully automated industrial workstations.

You will leverage RS Logix, PointIO, and motion control tooling to build robust PLC logic and interfaces. The role requires strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams, pre‑sale design activities, and ongoing optimization of control methodologies to meet customer needs and project

Qualifications

• Experience with RS Logix and PointIO required.
• Strong background in controls engineering.
• Pre‑sale conceptual design, scheduling, and cost estimation of control architecture for industrial workstations.
• PLC logic and electrical schematic design for system operation, motion control, and HMI/SCADA integration.
• Experience with OPC UA, Ethernet IP, and related networking for automated systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, production, QA, and sales teams.
• Prepare requirements documents from customer interviews and hardware engineers.
• Analyze and propose improvements to controls development and design methodologies.
• Develop reusable control system code and interfaces for automation projects.
• Support and extend existing control architectures and interfaces as directed by management.

JSG is hiring a Sr. Systems Control Engineer - Automation in Monrovia, CA.

Salary range: $105K-$130K DOE

Skills

• Current experience in RS Logix and PointIO is required. Strong fundamental background in controls engineering is a MUST!
• Pre‑sale conceptual design, schedule, and cost estimation of control architecture for semi‑automated and fully automated industrial processing workstations
• PLC logic and electrical schematic design for integrating system operation, motion control, laser programming and control, machine vision (Cognex, Keyence), data collection and analysis, file management, human machine interfaces (HMI), SCADA, OPC, UA, and networking capabilities with real time implementation.
• Structured, re‑useable low‑level motion control system code for Delta‑Tau, Aerotech, and ACS motion systems implementing control system and I/O functions.
• Manufacturing floor automation connectivity including LAN, OPC UA, database, and other standard interfaces and protocols.
• PLC code for Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Sick and Pilz PLCs
• Work in a team environment with other engineers, production, QA, test, materials control, contract management, and sales personnel
• Support and develop new logic, interfaces, and controls under direction of management.
• Prepare requirements document based on interview with customer and hardware engineers.
• Analyze and recommend improvements to our present controls’ development and design control methodology.
• Completely knowledgeable in controls design tools and environments including: OPC UA, Rs Logix, CP One, Ethernet IP and others.
