Job summary

Core Technology Solutions is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to join our hands-on infrastructure team in the Coastal Southeast. You will maintain and optimize a VMware-based virtual environment, Windows Server fleet, and Microsoft 365 services while ensuring backups and security are robust and reliable.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of progressive systems experience, strong networking knowledge, and a proven ability to troubleshoot across multiple layers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive systems/infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on VMware/virtualized server environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft 365.
• Experience with enterprise backup and recovery technologies.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets, routing, switching.
• Experience with firewall and network-security technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot across multiple infrastructure layers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and learn new technologies.
• Adaptable to changing business and technology priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot a Microsoft-based enterprise infrastructure.
• Manage and support virtual server environments, with an emphasis on VMware.
• Maintain Windows Server and related Microsoft technologies.
• Support backup, recovery, patching, monitoring, and overall systems availability.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues spanning servers, networks, connectivity, firewalls, and related technologies.
• Support Microsoft 365 and associated enterprise services.
• Work with technology vendors and partners to resolve issues and implement solutions.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, implementations, and technology initiatives.
• Proactively monitor the environment and identify potential issues before they become business-impacting problems.
• Serve as a senior technical resource capable of taking ownership of issues through resolution.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 7+ years of progressive systems/infrastructure experience or equivalent demonstrated technical depth.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware / virtualized server environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft 365.
• Practical experience with enterprise backup and recovery technologies.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets, routing, switching, and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting firewall and network-security technologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple layers of the infrastructure environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and learn new technologies.
• Ability to adapt as business and technology priorities change.

This position requires an on-site presence in the Coastal Southeast —> on-site position; relocation considered. Candidates currently outside the area who have a genuine interest in relocation are encouraged to inquire.
