Job summary

Crane Worldwide Logistics LLC in Houston seeks a senior IT operations leader to manage a team of Systems Administrators and Engineers, and a parallel team of Database Administrators, ensuring reliable server infrastructures and proactive patching.

You will oversee vendor relationships, drive incident response, monitoring, and DevOps practices, and steer cross-functional projects using JIRA in an Agile environment. Strong communication and analytical skills are required.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience administering server system infrastructures and technology.
  • 6+ years of experience in a senior or lead role.
  • Project Management certification preferred.
  • Professional certification may be required in some cases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of Systems Administrators and Engineers responsible for maintaining, monitoring, patching, and remediating issues in the server infrastructure.
  • Manage team of database administrators responsible for maintaining, monitoring, patching, and remediating issues in our database environments.
  • Manage relationships with 3 rd party vendors including but not exclusive to DBA and Sys Admin managed services.
  • Ensure strong incident response processes keeping all stakeholders informed as well as maintaining status pages for the organization via the Incident io product.
  • Maintain and improve monitoring practices, looking for ways to become as close to proactive as possible.
  • Maintain patching schedules for both OS and application related patch cycles.
  • Lead and Support cross-functional technology projects such as upgrades, migrations, or implementations.
  • Engage in and support DevOps practices for infrastructure and security management.
  • Exhibit a Site Reliability Engineering mindset when engaging with or developing reliability and incident response practices.
  • Manage projects and priorities via JIRA project management system in an Agile based format.

Job description

  • Develop and maintain SOPs for core functions
  • Lead and Support cross-functional technology projects such as upgrades, migrations, or implementations
  • Engage in and support DevOps practices for infrastructure and security management
  • Exhibit a Site Reliability Engineering mindset when engaging with or developing reliability and incident response practices
  • Manage projects and priorities via JIRA project management system in an Agile based format
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex technical problems

Education and Experience
  • 10+ years of experience administering server system infrastructures and technology
  • 6+ years of experience in a senior or lead role
Physical Requirements
  • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment
  • Job requires the ability to use vision, adjust focus and work on a standard computer screen
  • Use of audio-visual equipment is required
Professional Certification
  • Project Management certification preferred
  • Professional certification may be required in some cases
