Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Sr System Safety Engineer for a contract role with remote work across the United States. The candidate will serve as the senior SME on MIL-STD-882, coaching the engineering team and ensuring adherence to safety practices.

Responsibilities include tailoring MIL-STD-882 to programs, reviewing customer requirements, providing objective assessments, and supporting safety and reliability activities on an on-call basis.

Qualifications

• Senior-level expertise in MIL-STD-882 System Safety Engineering.
• Experience in system safety and reliability engineering.
• Ideally an engineering background with hands-on aerospace/defense experience.
• Proven ability to tailor MIL-STD-882 to a program or organization.
• Strong communication skills with coaching and teaching experience.
• Ability to give objective, candid assessments and work collaboratively.
• DO-178 experience is a plus.
