Job summary

Crane Co. is seeking a Sr System Administrator to design, deploy, and support our on-prem and cloud infrastructure in Stamford, CT. You will manage VMware/Nutanix environments, Active Directory, networking, and security appliances; ensure uptime; and drive disaster recovery planning.

You will deploy and administer VMs across on‑prem and cloud, back up assets, and participate in cross‑team IT initiatives while meeting SOX/compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of experience as an IT Systems Engineer in a medium to high-volume environment.
• Experience managing hypervisors (Nutanix, VMware) and backup appliances/storage.
• Experience deploying and automating virtual machines on-premises and in cloud infrastructure.
• Networking experience: LAN, WAN, WLAN, Internet; Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Knowledge of current cloud and on‑prem technologies, Active Directory, storage and backups.

Responsibilities

• Implement, patch, and manage data center and cloud technologies (VMware, Nutanix, Azure).
• Manage Active Directory including identity management, GPOs, and OU structures.
• Oversee networking (LAN/WAN/WLAN/Internet) and security appliances (firewalls).
• Ensure uptime of critical systems through monitoring and remediation.
• Deploy and manage virtual machines on-prem and in the cloud.
• Maintain backups and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Assist other IT teams with initiatives and automation.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements (SOX) and compliance processes.

## Sr System AdministratorApply: Onsite: Stamford, Connecticut: Full time: Posted Yesterday: JR102675**Job Summary:**Designs, develops, supports, and maintains the organization’s infrastructure, including implementation and design of hardware and software both on-prem and in the cloud. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests, and maintains the networking and compute infrastructure. Makes updates to networking and compute related installation, configuration, and baseline documentation.**Essential Functions:*** Responsible for implementation, patching, and management of data center and cloud technologies including VMware, Nutanix, and Azure* Responsible for Active Directory, including identity management, group polices, OU structures, and domain services.* Responsible for implementation, patching, and management of networking, including LAN, WAN, wireless and Internet.* Responsible for implementation, patching and management of security appliances, including firewalls and information security services* Ensure uptime of critical business systems and infrastructure through monitoring and timely remediation of infrastructure issues* Deploy and manage virtual machines both on-prem and in the cloud* Provide troubleshooting and recommendations for improvements to existing and new systems* Preserves data assets and ensures back-up procedures meet or exceed our policies* Help to implement and provide support for disaster recovery of key systems* Assist other teams with IT initiatives* Identifies issues, evaluates trends, and anticipates requirements* Ensures adherence to all regulatory compliance processes and requirements, including but not limited to Sarbanes-Oxley and like regulations* Support the monitoring, alerting and automation infrastructure for critical business systems and infrastructure* Maintains organization's effectiveness and efficiency by delivering and supporting strategic plans for implementing infrastructure technologies* Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies* Provides documentation and training to other team members and IT teams* Adhere to a structured weekly schedule that includes a combination of shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing backup Help Desk coverage as needed.* Any other task assigned by supervisor or management**Non-Essential Functions:*** N/A**Minimum Qualifications:*** *Experience*: 3-5+ years of experience as an IT Systems Engineer in a medium to high volume environment; Experience in managing and maintaining hypervisor technologies including Nutanix and VMware; Experience in managing and maintaining backup appliances, storage arrays, and server blade systems; Experience deploying and automating virtual machines both on-prem and in cloud infrastructure; Experience managing networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, WLAN and Internet, Juniper Networking solutions, and Palo Alto firewalls.* *Knowledge*: Knowledge of current cloud and on-prem technologies, hypervisors, networking, Active Directory, storage, and backups; Proficient in supporting and maintaining compute environments to meet best practices; Basic understanding of automation tools and deployment methods* *Skills/Abilities*: Strong problem solving; Ability to complete job requirements within time constraints; Ability to train new employees to support systems as required; Works independently and collaboratively; Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project; Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them* *Education/Certification*: BS degree in computer-oriented technical discipline or equivalent experience**Preferred Qualifications:*** N/A*Crane Co. reserves the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
