Qualifications

• Two years recent scrubbing clinical experience in an acute care operating room.
• Recent experience (within last two years) scrubbing in at least three service lines: General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, Plastics, or Cardiac.
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least two surgical specialties.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification for healthcare providers.
• High School Diploma; or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of a surgical technologist training program; or equivalent experience.
• The flexibility to work and orient at all UCSF Health locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and function as a member of the surgical team during procedures.
• Serve as a resource to fellow Surgical Technologists and troubleshoot service implementation and equipment as needed.
• Support a multidisciplinary team-based operating room environment to ensure high quality patient care.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures. In addition to performing the duties of the Surgical Technologist, the Senior Surgical Technologist functions in a specialty service and utilizes and troubleshoots service implementation and equipment and is a resource to the Surgical Technologists.

The UCSF Benioff Children\'s Hospital Oakland (OR) consists of 11 surgical suites and 1 procedural.

Walnut Creek (OR) has two surgical suites and one special procedure room.

Our primary focus is multidisciplinary team-based approach and staffing.

Services include, but are not limited to: Neurology, Ortho/Spine, Otolaryngology, Urology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Dental, Cardiac, General Surgery, GI, Hem/Onc.
