Job summary

KPC Global Medical Centers Inc. seeks a Sr Surgical Tech to prepare ORs, assist with surgeries, and maintain aseptic technique. This role requires assisting with all equipment, maintaining counts of instruments, and supporting patient care from pre-op through recovery.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $35.45 To $41.53 Hourly

The Sr. Surgical Technologist assumes responsibility and accountability for the preparation of operating rooms for surgery, using appropriate techniques, performs a variety of technical duties to assist patients with surgery, maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives and safety standards. The Sr. Surgical Tech is responsible for pulling cases completely and providing all equipment for the cases. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and follows infection control policies. Maintains aseptic techniques, actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges. Provides comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patients care and privacy. Identifies and cares for specimens. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs as needed. Assists in clearing OR suites. May handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, harmful elements. Has the collaborative responsibility for the treatment and care of the patient from pediatrics through geriatrics. This position is supervised by the Technical Coordinator and reports to the Manager/Director of Perioperative Services.

Requirements :

• Previous experience as a Surgical Technician, 2 years preferred
• Current BLS certification.
• Completion of course for surgical technicians preferred.
• Has full command of the English language (verbal and written).
• Possesses the physical abilities, including heavy lifting, and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual, hearing) to satisfactory perform assigned duties.
