We areseeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Supply Chain Manager, Battery Energy Storage System to lead sourcing, supplier development, and supply chain readiness for energy storage components across the full product lifecycle. This role spans new product development, launch, and sustaining production: bringing suppliers in early, securing supply for prototype and pilot builds, readying the supply base and contract manufacturers for launch, and managing cost, capacity, and supplier performance once products are in production. It covers enclosures, battery modules and racks, battery management systems, thermal management, fire suppression, and electrical balance-of-system components. The Supply Chain Manager will work closely with engineering, product, operations, and logistics teams to deliver products that meet cost, schedule, and domestic content requirements.
The role may require up to 15% travel and is based in Santa Clara, CA.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Component Sourcing
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for energy storage components, including enclosures, battery modules and racks, battery management systems, thermal management, fire suppression, busbars, cabling, and electrical balance-of-system.
- Build should-cost models and total-cost-of-ownership analyses to set component cost targets and support negotiations.
- Establish dual-source and regional supply options to manage capacity, tariff, and geopolitical risk.
- Conduct market analysis to identify new suppliers, technology trends, and cost reduction opportunities.
New Product Development & Launch Readiness
- Partner with engineering and product teams from concept through launch, bringing suppliers in early and providing supply chain input on cost, lead time, supplier capability, and supply risk.
- Own the supply chain readiness plan for new products, defining and tracking readiness criteria at each development and launch gate, including supplier capacity, lead times, tooling, cost, logistics, and service parts.
- Plan and secure supply for prototype, pilot, and production builds, and lead supplier and contract manufacturer readiness for launch and volume ramp.
- Own purchased-component cost targets and track bill-of-materials (BOM) cost through each development phase.
- Set up new parts, suppliers, and BOMs in ERP ahead of launch, and align packaging and shipping requirements with the logistics team.
Sustaining Supply & Lifecycle Management
- Manage ongoing supply for products in production, including supply planning, capacity, lead times, and supplier delivery performance.
- Scale supplier and contract manufacturer capacity as volumes grow, and adjust sourcing strategies to market changes.
- Drive annual cost reductions, value engineering with suppliers, and contract renewals.
- Manage engineering changes, second-source introductions, and component obsolescence, including product transitions and last-time buys.
Supplier Selection & Performance
- Identify, assess, and onboard new suppliers on capability, capacity, financial, and commercial criteria, partnering with engineering on supplier qualification.
- Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and assembly partners, including supply agreements, capacity commitments, and material supply.
- Monitor supplier performance through scorecards and business reviews, and drive corrective actions on cost, delivery, and readiness gaps.
Sourcing and Negotiation
- Lead RFQs and RFPs, evaluate proposals, and select suppliers that meet technical, commercial, and compliance requirements.
- Negotiate supply agreements, pricing, lead times, warranties, and service-level terms, including tooling and NRE agreements.
- Manage engineering change orders and their cost, schedule, and supply impact.
- Ensure alignment with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
Compliance & Material Planning
- Collect and maintain supplier country-of-origin and content documentation to support domestic content and FEOC compliance.
- Maintain accurate item master and BOM data in ERP (SAP), and develop material plans aligned with build schedules.
- Coordinate supply and delivery schedules with logistics to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
Reporting & Analytics
- Report on launch readiness status, BOM cost, supplier performance, supply risks, and cost savings.
- Maintain cost and supplier performance databases, and analyze data to identify risks and improvement areas.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned by Management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field required
- Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain for manufactured hardware products
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting new product development and launch, from prototype through volume production
- Required experience sourcing components for energy storage, batteries, power electronics, or electrical equipment (e.g., enclosures, battery modules, BMS, thermal management, cabling)
- Experience leading supply chain readiness for product launches, including readiness gates and ramp planning
- Experience managing sustaining supply for products in volume production, including cost reduction and supplier performance
- Experience building should-cost models and managing BOM cost targets
- Experience negotiating supply, tooling, and NRE agreements
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, professional team environment with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately in support of schedules and other deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Confident communicator, able to interact with people at all levels of the organization

- Able to identify, investigate, and solve problems in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience contracting with contract manufacturers preferred
- Familiarity with supplier qualification processes (e.g., first article inspection, PPAP) preferred
- Knowledge of battery module, rack, and BMS supply markets preferred
- Familiarity with domestic content, FEOC, and tariff requirements for US clean energy products preferred
