A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  1. Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
  2. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  3. Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.
  4. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited regularly to meet good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards.
  5. Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback.
  6. Supports Pre-Market Supplier Quality activities, collaborating with NPD teams to deliver quality parts and prevent defects, ensuring high-quality, reliable products.
  7. Provides technical guidance and ensures quality compliance throughout the NPD lifecycle for newly qualified parts, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  8. Collaborates with Component Engineers on Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List, and Control Plans for new products.
  9. Defines Receiving Inspection requirements and associated test method validation for internal Medtronic Test Methods.
Technical Specialist Career Stream

Required Knowledge and Experience

Requires advanced knowledge of the job area, typically through advanced education and experience, including practical project management knowledge. A Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 2 years relevant experience, is required.
