Job summary

Westport Construction in California seeks a Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on complex multifamily, commercial, and infrastructure projects. This role focuses on delivering safe, on-time, on-budget results while mentoring site teams.

You will coordinate with project managers, supervise subcontractors, ensure QA/QC, and drive look-ahead schedules and field reporting. A decade of supervision, OSHA 30, CPR/First-Aid, and a CA driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of construction supervision experience.
• Multifamily construction experience preferred.
• HS Diploma required; OSHA 30-hour and CPR/First-Aid certifications.
• CA Driver’s License required.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PM Web or equivalent.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee field operations on complex projects, coordinating multiple teams.
• Lead schedule development, sequencing, and project execution.
• Mentor Superintendents and field staff to promote safety and excellence.
• Drive QA/QC, inspections, and project close-out.

We are currently seeking a Senior Superintendent to join our team. This is a key leadership role for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of construction field operations, a track record of delivering complex projects, and a passion for mentoring and elevating teams.

What You’ll Do

• Leadership & Oversight: Oversee all field operations on complex construction projects, managing multiple Superintendents, subcontractors, and field teams.
• Leadership & Oversight: Ensure the project is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Leadership & Oversight: Maintain strong relationships with ownership, consultants, and external partners.

• Project Management & Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers to lead schedule development, sequencing, and execution.
• Project Management & Coordination: Supervise site mobilization, logistics, safety measures, and installation sequencing.
• Project Management & Coordination: Lead quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) efforts for all installations and final inspections.
• Project Management & Coordination: Oversee project commissioning, training, and close-out processes.
• Project Management & Coordination: Drive accountability by monitoring progress through look-ahead schedules, milestone tracking, and jobsite reporting.
• Project Management & Coordination: Ensure that all documentation, RFIs, and field reports are accurate and submitted on time.

• Team Development: Mentor and coach subordinate Superintendents and field staff to promote growth and operational excellence.
• Team Development: Support staffing decisions, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Team Development: Promote a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Communication & Meetings: Lead weekly subcontractor meetings and project team meetings.
• Communication & Meetings: Attend OAC meetings and serve as the field liaison with ownership and design consultants.
• Communication & Meetings: Monitor field correspondence and ensure consistent, professional communication from all site personnel.

What You Bring To The Table

• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision; multifamily construction preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• OSHA 30-hour and CPR/First-Aid certifications.
• Valid CA Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PM Web or similar construction management software.
• Deep understanding of construction drawings, technical documentation, and field sequencing.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale projects with professionalism, discipline, and foresight.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and interface with executives and stakeholders.
