Job Summary

The Senior Structural Engineer (PE) will serve as thetechnical and operational leader for the Structural Engineering practice withinEDG's Columbus, Ohio office. This role combines hands-on engineering, projectleadership, business development support, mentoring, and practice developmentresponsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishingand growing a structural engineering team that mirrors the capabilities,quality standards, and execution excellence demonstrated throughout EDG's otheroffices.

This position requires a licensed Professional Engineerwith strong experience in industrial facilities and infrastructure. Primarymarket sectors include power generation, electric transmission anddistribution, bulk material handling, and oil & gas facilities. Theindividual will provide technical leadership for structural engineeringprojects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical,safe, and cost-effective solutions.

The Senior Structural Engineer will be expected to helpexpand EDG's presence in the Midwest region through client development,proposal support, recruitment, staff mentoring, and successful projectexecution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Serve as Engineer of Record for structuralengineering projects or portions of projects and provide final technical reviewand approval of design deliverables;
• Lead structural engineering design activitiesfor industrial facilities, power generation plants, substations, transmissioninfrastructure, bulk material handling facilities, and oil & gas facilities;
• Perform structural analysis and design for: structuralsteel buildings and frames, equipment support structures, pipe racks, conveyorgalleries and transfer towers, substation and transmission support structures, industrialconcrete structures, foundations and retaining structures and/or existingstructure evaluations and modifications;
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codesincluding: IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, OSHA requirements and local building codesand client specifications;
• Develop design criteria, engineeringcalculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents;
• Lead field investigations, site assessments,condition evaluations, and structural inspections;
• Provide technical guidance and quality oversightto other structural engineers, designers, and drafters.

Structural Practice Development

• Establish and grow the Columbus structuralengineering practice in alignment with EDG's corporate standards and bestpractices;
• Assist in developing strategic plans forstaffing, service offerings, and market expansion;
• Collaborate with leadership to identify growthopportunities within target industries;
• Help establish structural engineering tools,workflows, procedures, standards, and quality management processes;
• Support recruiting efforts and participate ininterviewing, hiring, and onboarding structural engineering personnel;
• Build and mentor a team of structural engineersand designers to support office growth.

Project Management and Client Engagement

• Serve as a lead technical resource formultidisciplinary project teams;
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, andengineering work plans;
• Support proposals, project estimates, andbusiness development activities;
• Interface directly with clients to understandproject requirements and develop engineering solutions;
• Participate in client presentations, technicaldiscussions, and project meetings;
• Develop and maintain strong relationships withexisting and prospective clients;
• Identify opportunities for repeat business andadditional engineering services.

Collaboration and Mentorship

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers intechnical design, project execution, and professional development;
• Participate in performance evaluations andcareer development planning;
• Foster a culture of technical excellence,collaboration, and continuous improvement;
• Promote safety, quality, and accountabilitythroughout all project activities.
