Bloom Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer in San Jose, CA. This role involves designing mechanical systems, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 6–8 years of experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks CAD. Excellent time-management and communication skills are essential.

The position is fully on-site, and candidates must be eligible to work in the US. Salary range is $134,500 – $193,500.

Role Overview

Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer – San Jose, CA.Fully on‑site, 5 days per week. Reports to Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles.
• Utilize project management skills to track projects through all phases of design to production.
• Support design decisions with analysis and calculations, as required.
• Develop DFMEA and PFMEA for products and solutions to minimize project risks.
• Participate in peer‑to‑peer design reviews and provide critical feedback.
• Create and manage SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, and assemblies.
• Manage top‑level assemblies in a PDM system environment.
• Control drawing and model releases through the change control process.
• Communicate with suppliers on a technical basis to ensure a quality product.
• Coordinate with manufacturing operations to develop and implement DFM and cost‑reduction design actions.
• Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
• Ensure resulting design drawings/documents meet all Building, Construction and Mechanical code requirements.
• Ensure the design conforms to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and drafting of mechanical components and sub‑assemblies.
• Ability to use engineering analysis tools (FEA, Thermo, CFD, etc.) for design validation.
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, and/or facility maintenance related to mechanical assemblies is desired.
