Metropolis Technologies in Los Angeles seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Recognition Platform to own the Metropolis Recognition Platform architecture and guide cross‑functional teams across application engineering, computer vision, data, security, and platform groups.

You will drive high‑volume edge‑to‑cloud pipelines, define RFCs, and push for architectural clarity while shaping the technical direction and ensuring delivery of real‑time decisioning.

Qualifications

• Lead cross-functional architectural ownership of a multi-service platform.
• Expert in JVM languages (Java/Scala) and event-driven designs.
• Experience designing high-throughput edge-to-cloud pipelines.
• Strong ability to write decisive RFCs and drive RFC processes.
• Comfort with privacy/bias and security considerations in regulated domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture across edge ingestion, identity resolution, decisioning, notification, and operator surfaces.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across application, CV/ML, data, security, and platform teams and external partners.
• Evolve high-volume streaming pipelines with tail latency and backpressure considerations.
• Design rules and decisioning layers for real-time actions.
• Own production quality with SLOs, alerts, runbooks, and progressive rollout via feature flags.
• Mentor teams and elevate technical standards across the organization.
