Role Summary

As a Senior Staff Component Reliability Engineer for the RivianVW joint venture, you will play a key role in developing the new generations of low voltage electric architectures. You will provide guidance on the selection of electronic components for upcoming designs to ensure they meet our vehicle mission and reliability targets.


Responsibilities

As a Senior Staff Component Reliability Engineer focusing on low voltage electronics, you will play a key role in developing vehicle control, connected car, and self-driving products from concept to production phases. Essential responsibilities in this role include:

  1. Set and communicate Reliability requirements, targets, and test plans for electronic components. Focus on Body Controllers, Infotainment, Connectivity, Battery Controllers.
  2. Bill of Material review to ensure Interconnect meets vehicle life requirements.
  3. Be the resident reliability development expert for the hardware design and architecture teams.
  4. Guide the reliability and engineering teams on electronic failure modes, typical countermeasures for reliability failures, and design guidelines.
  5. Use fleet data, performance characterizations, and industry standards to define lifetime test requirements and mission profiles.
  6. Coordinate root cause process with engineering teams, suppliers, and failure analysis laboratories.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement is a Master of Science in an engineering discipline or equivalent. Eight or more years of industry experience in a reliability engineering role. Level of Role depends on experience and qualifications. A strong technical background is needed in the following areas:

  1. Domain knowledge of methods to design and sustain reliability for several of the following: Semiconductors, ASIC chip, SOC, PMIC, Memory (SSD, UFS, Flash).
  2. Experience with facilitating FMEAs and leading cross-functional teams.
  3. Working knowledge of a coding language, preferably Python.
  4. Working knowledge of statistical software for reliability, such as JMP or the ReliaSoft suite.
  5. Understanding of Highly Accelerated Testing methods and governing equations for different types of failure mechanisms.
  6. Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as SEM, CT, X-Ray, EDS, TDR, OBIRCH (Optical Beam Induced Resistive Change).
  7. Experience working with Component Suppliers and analyzing their Accelerated test data.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Palo Alto, California Based Applicants: $237,200.00 - $296,500.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Irvine, California Based Applicants: $218,200.00 - $272,800.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
