Job summary

Immedia in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. You will own journal entries, reconcile GL accounts, and contribute to monthly and annual closes, while analyzing project costs and ensuring GAAP compliance.

This role offers a hands-on opportunity to improve internal controls, support budgeting and forecasting, and collaborate with leadership to provide accurate financial insights for project-driven operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP, general ledger, and financial reporting knowledge.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel and accounting software proficiency.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, GL accounts, and reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and analyses.
• Investigate discrepancies and ensure GAAP compliance.

You’ll play an important role in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, project accounting, and internal controls while collaborating with finance leadership and operational teams.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and maintain accurate journal entries, general ledger accounts, and account reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Prepare financial reports, supporting schedules, and detailed financial analyses.
• Investigate discrepancies and ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Track and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
• Review project profitability, job costing, and budget-to-actual variances.
• Support work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition.
• Partner with project management and finance leadership to provide accurate, actionable financial information.

Process Improvement & Financial Controls

• Maintain organized and reliable financial records.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Support internal controls, audits, and compliance requirements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, expense analysis, and financial reporting.
• Review accounts payable and receivable activity for accuracy and proper classification.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
• Proven experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification or CPA candidate.
• Experience in project-based accounting, construction, audiovisual integration, or technology services.
• Knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting process improvements.
• Experience supporting finance leadership in a privately held company.
