This opening is within the Small Commercial National Technical Underwriting unit. It can be filled remotely or in one of our offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Partner with Technical Consultants and Directors on project execution, providing coordination, documentation, and support to drive success.
  2. Collaborate with the Automation Team to ensure project alignment, leveraging data analytics tools.
  3. Assist with managing Knowledge Advanced content updates and support the transition to the P&C Knowledge Center.
  4. Support maintenance of Handling Procedure documentation with the Automation team for accuracy and efficiency.
  5. Contribute to underwriter development by sharing insights and best practices.
  6. Support external appetite initiatives, including updates to platforms like Ask Kodiak and CAD.

  1. Deep knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and practices.
  2. Proficiency in PolicyCenter.
  3. Experience with regulatory requirements and underwriting guidelines.
  4. Strong project management skills.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Job Summary:

Develop and implement underwriting strategies aligned with our risk appetite, utilizing analysis and problem-solving skills to improve efficiency and profitability. As a Senior Specialist, you will contribute to policy development, product improvement, and coordinate efforts across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a product/underwriting specialist for assigned products and regions.
  2. Assist in interpreting coverage, rules, and standards in line with policies and regulations.
  3. Assess underwriting problems and participate in risk standard development.
  4. Conduct performance reviews and recommend improvements.
  5. Analyze market information and recommend actions for product performance improvement.
  6. Participate in state filing activities and project management for rate reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., CPCU) helpful.
  • Approximately six years of product-related underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of property/casualty products and insurance operations.
  • Decision-making and analysis skills.
  • Ability to lead project teams and connect with stakeholders.

Additional criteria and leadership qualities may be prioritized. Staffing exceptions require approval.
