Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) seeks a Senior Specialist to join the Electric Operations Storm Response group, partnering with O&R and Con Edison teams to prepare for and execute storm response actions.

The role focuses on integrating people, technology, and processes to improve storm outcomes for internal and external stakeholders. You will develop documentation, training, and governance for storm processes, while collaborating with multiple departments and utilities

Qualifications

• Experience in electric distribution planning, construction, and operations.
• Strong MS Office proficiency and familiarity with company software systems.
• Ability to present to large audiences is essential.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Project management, forecasting and capital program experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise documentation to support existing storm processes.
• Develop training programs and exercises to enhance operational knowledge for SEAs.
• Collaborate with Emergency Preparedness to align SEAs with employee skill sets.
• Implement action items from internal and external lessons learned discussions.
• Benchmark with other utilities and companies.
• Facilitate standardization for business processes by building networks of key users.
• Support governance of storm processes across company organizations during IC S event mobilizations.
• Recommend appropriate training for personnel on storm response and business processes.
• Partner with O&R, CECONY Storm Planning & Response, and IT on requirements, design, testing, and implementations of ETS applications/software.
• Administer access to O&R applications and conduct regular audits of user access.

Job description

The Electric Operations Storm Response group seeks a highly motivated individual to be part of its team. The Senior Specialist works directly with Con Edison and Orange & Rockland operating organizations and assists them with storm response preparation activities and storm response action plans. These proactive efforts will incorporate industry best practices and are designed to help ensure compliance with the Electric Emergency Response Plan as well as PSC regulations. General responsibilities of this position include integrating people, technology, and process improvements to enhance storm outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders

Core Responsibilities

• Create and revise documentation to support existing storm processes.
• Develop training programs and exercises to enhance operational knowledge in executing system emergency assignments (SEAs).
• Collaborate with Emergency Preparedness and other departments to ensure SEAs match employees skill sets.
• implementing action items from internal and external lessons learned discussions.
• Benchmark with other utilities and companies.
• Facilitate standardization for business processes by building and maintaining networks of key users.
• Support governance of storm processes across company organizations during IC S event mobilizations.
• Recommend appropriate training for personnel on storm response and business processes.
• Partner with O&R business teams, CECONY Storm Planning & Response team, and IT on business requirements, design, testing, and implementations of various ETS applications/software.
• Administer access to O&R applications and conduct regular audits of user access.

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree and with a minimum of 5 years related experience or
• Associate's Degree and with a minimum of 7 years related experience or
• High School Diploma/GED and with a minimum of 10 years related experience

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor's Degree Technical degrees in Engineering, Management, Information Technology or Computer Science.

Relevant Work Experience

• Experience with electric distribution system planning, construction, and operations, required.
• Ability to conduct presentations to large audiences is an integral part of the job, required.
• Must have strong proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects), as well as other company software systems, required.
• Ability to effectively and positively interact with all levels of management, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, etc. is essential in this dynamic position, required.
• Must have good communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, required.
• Project management, operational experience, forecasting and capital program experience, required.

Licenses and Certifications

Additional Physical Demands

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able and willing to travel throughout New York State.
