Job summary

Rocket Lab Optical Systems in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer I to support the lifecycle of advanced space payloads for the U.S. Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

You will work with hardware, software, firmware and test teams to ensure electrical architecture and controls meet system requirements, perform verification, and contribute to architecture trades and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, systems, or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years engineering experience, including 3+ years supporting development programs and 2+ years in technical leadership.
• Experience with electrical architecture, subsystem integration, and controls-focused development.
• Experience with requirements management and modeling tools such as JAMA, DOORS, Cameo.

Responsibilities

• Develop system architecture for space-based instruments, subsystems, and payloads with emphasis on electrical behavior and controls.
• Define and decompose system requirements, interfaces, and verification approaches.
• Create and maintain architecture descriptions, interface control documents, and test plans.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, firmware, and test teams to ensure alignment with requirements and mission intent.
• Support integration and testing of space payloads on spacecraft platforms.
