Enterprise Architectural Leader Shape Enterprise Cloud & Platform Strategy
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architectural Leader to provide architectural leadership across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, DevSecOps, and enterprise modernization. This is a strategic architecture and leadership role, not a day-to-day engineering position. You'll define the future-state architecture, establish standards and governance, lead design reviews, and guide engineering teams in implementing secure, scalable, and resilient platforms. The environment is primarily Microsoft Azure, with AWS also part of the enterprise landscape. The ideal candidate brings significant prior hands‑on cloud and infrastructure experience but has progressed into broader enterprise architecture ownership, technical strategy, and engineering leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the enterprise architecture strategy for cloud, infrastructure, and platform engineering, with a primary focus on Azure.
- Define target‑state architecture, reference architectures, technology standards, design principles, and architectural guardrails.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, evaluating proposed solutions for scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise strategy.
- Establish cloud and platform engineering practices that enable consistent technology decisions across engineering teams.
- Provide architectural direction across cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, containers, platform services, automation, and developer enablement.
- Guide DevSecOps strategy and standards across CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, secure software delivery, and platform automation.
- Establish architectural expectations for observability, monitoring, resiliency, disaster recovery, and SRE practices.
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure architecture standards are translated into practical, executable solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, platforms, and vendors and provide recommendations aligned with business and technology strategy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop architects and engineers while building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Partner with infrastructure, security, application development, and business leadership to align architecture investments with organizational priorities.
- Communicate architecture strategy, technology decisions, trade‑offs, and risk to both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive experience across cloud architecture, infrastructure, platform engineering, or enterprise technology architecture.
- 3+ years of technical leadership, architecture leadership, or people management experience.
- Proven experience owning or establishing enterprise architecture strategy, standards, reference architectures, and governance practices.
- Strong architectural expertise with Microsoft Azure, including experience designing enterprise‑scale cloud environments.
- Prior hands‑on engineering or architecture experience sufficient to effectively challenge designs, guide engineering teams, and make informed architectural decisions.
- Experience leading architecture and technical design reviews across complex enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, identity, security, containers, and platform engineering.
- Architectural knowledge of DevSecOps, CI/CD, secure SDLC, Infrastructure as Code, and automation practices.
- Experience establishing or governing enterprise architecture standards across engineering teams.
- Demonstrated experience influencing technology strategy across infrastructure, engineering, security, and business organizations.
- Proven leadership experience developing technical talent and driving alignment across cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent executive communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex architecture decisions, risks, and trade‑offs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Architecture experience across both Azure and AWS environments.
- Background with technologies such as Azure DevOps, Harness, GitLab, Terraform, Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Knowledge of enterprise observability platforms such as New Relic, Dynatrace, or Datadog.
- Experience establishing DevSecOps, SRE, SLIs/SLOs, or platform engineering practices.
- Experience with internal developer platforms, self‑service infrastructure, and developer enablement strategies.
- Knowledge of cloud cost management, FinOps, and optimization practices.
- Experience evaluating enterprise technology vendors and platforms.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or comparable cloud architecture certification.
- AWS, security, or Kubernetes certifications.
Technology Environment
The architecture organization supports a modern enterprise ecosystem that includes Microsoft Azure, AWS, Azure DevOps, Harness, GitLab, Terraform, Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Docker, New Relic, Dynatrace, and Datadog. Direct hands‑on administration of each technology is not expected. The successful candidate should bring the architectural knowledge and prior technical experience necessary to establish standards, evaluate designs, guide engineering teams, and make strategic technology decisions across this environment.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to move beyond individual solution delivery and have broader influence over how enterprise cloud and platform technology is designed, governed, and evolved. You'll help establish the architecture practices and technical direction that guide engineering teams, influence modernization investments, and create a more consistent and scalable technology environment.
