Job summary

Qcells North America seeks a Sr. Software Integration and Validation Engineer to ensure seamless integration across hardware, firmware, cloud and applications for solar and storage solutions.

You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies for commissioning, homeowner, fleet, and API layers, validating quality, reliability and usability prior to releases. Strong collaboration with product, hardware and software teams is required in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, CS) required; MS preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in solar modules, inverters, energy storage, and HW/SW systems.
• Experience with manual testing, test case design, boundary value analysis, and exploratory testing.
• Hands-on REST API testing using Postman or Insomnia.
• Ability to read software requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Proficiency with Jira, TestRail or Zephyr for defect tracking and test management.
• Cross-functional collaboration with hardware, software, and field teams.
• Experience with UI testing and API integration across apps.
• Python or other programming language proficiency.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-national environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product management and development to ensure system-level requirements.
• Lead voice of customer for UI/UX and ensure best-in-class delivery.
• Own system software level testing for alpha validation including multiple apps and APIs.
• Design, document, and execute manual test cases for commissioning, homeowner, fleet, and reporting modules.
• Conduct usability testing to evaluate workflows and user experience.
• Perform exploratory testing to find edge cases beyond scripted tests.
• Maintain and update test case libraries with product changes.
• Test REST APIs for correctness and contract compliance.
• Develop and execute API test suites using Postman, Insomnia or similar.
• Validate data integrity between front-end and back-end services.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to understand service contracts and design tests.
• Document test outcomes, defects, and go/no-go recommendations.
• Log and triage defects in Jira with clear steps and severities.
• Support regression testing after bug fixes.
• Admin for Confluence and Jira platforms.
• Support lab testing automation and automated reporting.
• Assist sales with pre-sales product overview and training.
• Stay updated on SW testing standards and solar/storage trends.
• Stay abreast of solar and storage industry trends and technologies.
