Job summary

RTX Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Next Generation A2G Graphics Drivers group within Display Products. You will guide system software engineers, align with DO-178C, and support bids, proposals, and customer tech presentations.

Strong leadership, a results-driven mindset, and collaboration are essential. Display Products designs avionics displays for commercial and military use.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Successful leadership experience in developing certified software written in assembly and C/C++.
  • Proven record of meeting objectives and commitments.
  • Possess a collaborative way of working.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing system performance and affordability.
  • Strong communicator, able to interface with the spectrum from individual contributors to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own execution of safety critical, DO-178C compliant, graphics driver development.
  • Ensure appropriate alignment with industry standards such as A661, OpenGL SC, and Vulkan SC.
  • Drive market differentiation through custom AMLCDs and graphics drivers.
  • Lead engineers and ensure program commitments are met.
  • Ensure consistency with Collins Consistent Engineering Processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Program / Product requirements as reflected in design plans.
  • Participate in the budgetary planning process through identification of staffing, facilities, capital, and support needs.
  • Manage performance of engineering personnel and meet required deliverables.
  • Lead a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced Engineers.
  • Lead product execution through risk and opportunity management, earned value management, and appropriate accountability.
  • Lead technology maturation through scope definition and funding acquisition.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in Displays and the associated technologies.
  • Support the development and upkeep of product roadmaps and participates in industry committees.
  • Maintain awareness of technology and Company’s competitive position.

Display Products is responsible for designing displays for both commercial and military avionics. The successful candidate will lead and mentor the Next Generation A2G Graphics Drivers group consisting of system software engineers. Experience related to the design and development of avionics displays is desired; software design experience is strongly desired. This person will also support customer and business-related activities including bids, proposals, and customer technical presentations.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
