Salary Range: $165,000-$375,000

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$375,000 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount BNSF | Tech reasonably expects to pay based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Individual compensation will depend on the hiring location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will support and enhance SAP infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments. You’ll contribute to deployment, automation, and integration of SAP landscapes, including SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, scalability, and reliability. This role is ideal for experienced SAP or cloud infrastructure engineers seeking to deepen their expertise in enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deploy, configure, and support SAP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, MaxDB, and MS SQL Server.
  2. Contribute to migration and deployment of SAP workloads to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  3. Support SAP BTP integration with SAP and third-party systems, using services like SAP Integration Suite and SAP Analytics Cloud.
  4. Implement automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or Ansible to manage SAP environments and support CI/CD pipelines.
  5. Support database replication and real-time data movement using SAP SLT, Data Services, or SAP Data Intelligence.
  6. Contribute to monitoring tools implementation (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, SAP Cloud ALM) for system performance and availability.
  7. Apply SAP security practices including RBAC, encryption, and identity integrations like SSO or SAP IAS.
  8. Support SAP GRC Access Control processes (firefighter, ID management, and access risk analysis).
  9. Assist with user access reviews, audit preparations, and compliance reporting.
  10. Perform user provisioning, troubleshoot access issues, and maintain security roles based on business needs.
  11. Collaborate with Basis, Security, Development, and Operations teams on infrastructure, security, and system updates.
  12. Manage release schedules and coordinate transport deployments across SAP landscape.
  13. Enforce and improve SAP change and release management processes per ITIL standards.
  14. Maintain documentation and audit compliance for SAP transport activities.
  15. Track and resolve transport issues, conflicts, and dependencies in SAP landscapes.
  16. Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and procedures for SAP systems and integrations.
  17. Troubleshoot infrastructure and integration issues across SAP landscapes with guidance from senior team members.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Authorized to work in the US.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  3. 4–7 years in IT infrastructure, with 2–3 years in SAP infrastructure or cloud systems.
  4. Knowledge of SAP systems like SAP S/4HANA, SAP HANA, and supporting databases.
  5. Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment practices.
  6. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and automation.
  7. Experience with SAP integration technologies (SAP Integration Suite, APIs, SLT).
  8. Understanding of SAP security fundamentals and system monitoring.
  9. Proficiency in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, BW, and cloud SAP products.
  10. Knowledge of RBAC, SoD principles, and SAP audit controls.
  11. Familiarity with SAP GRC Access Control or similar tools.
  12. Strong analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, SAP Certified Tech Associate).
  2. Experience with hybrid SAP landscapes and cloud-native integration.
  3. Exposure to SAP BTP services like Fiori, SAP Analytics Cloud, Document Management.
  4. Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
  5. Hands-on experience with open-source monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
  6. Knowledge of real-time data replication or event-driven architectures.
  7. Experience with SAP TMS, CTS, and SAP S/4HANA upgrades.
