Job description

About Cleerly

We’re Cleerly – a healthcare company that’s revolutionizing how heart disease is diagnosed, treated, and tracked. Founded in 2017, we’re a growing team of engineering, operations, medical affairs, marketing, and sales leaders.

About The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive key technical initiatives across our platform. In this high‑impact role, you’ll own complex systems end‑to‑end, influence architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers, shaping our engineering culture and scaling enterprise capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop scalable backend services (Node.js, TypeScript) and performant user‑facing applications (React, Next.js).
  • Design extensible system architectures and make pragmatic trade‑offs that balance performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Own full lifecycle delivery of complex features, from architectural planning and API design to UI implementation and post‑release observability.
  • Ensure high availability and observability of our services; improve alerting, logging, and incident response across the stack.
  • Set and uphold strong engineering standards via code reviews, technical mentorship, and design documentation.
  • Partner with product, design, and stakeholders to align engineering with business goals and user needs.
  • Lead technical design reviews and system decomposition efforts across teams.
  • Proactively identify risks and gaps in operational or architectural resilience, and drive durable improvements.
  • Collaborate closely across engineering to reduce knowledge silos and ensure continuity in critical systems through cross‑training and documentation.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and lead post‑incident reviews, driving long‑term reliability improvements across systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8–12 years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in backend systems (Node.js, PostgreSQL) and experience with modern front‑end frameworks (React, TypeScript).
  • Proven track record of architecting and delivering scalable systems in production environments.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar through reviews and design feedback.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs in scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Experience designing for observability and operational excellence (e.g., logs, alerts, dashboards, runbooks).
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity across product, engineering, and business stakeholders.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with regulated domains (e.g., healthcare, fintech) and high‑availability infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerized cloud environments (Docker, AWS ECS/EKS), CI/CD automation, and infrastructure as code.
  • Exposure to event‑driven architecture or microservices with asynchronous workflows.
Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role varies by location and is aligned to market benchmarks. Candidates located in higher‑cost labor markets represent the middle to high end of the range, while candidates in other U.S. locations represent the low to middle end.

  • Base Salary: $153,000 - $179,000
  • Target Total Compensation (TTC): $176,000 - $206,000

Additionally, there is a 15% target annual bonus, stock options, paid benefits, and employee perks as part of total rewards.
