Senior Software Engineer I

The Senior Software Engineer I solves complex business needs by delivering quality code with minimal guidance and supervision. They contribute to design elements, leverage engineering best practices, and elevate team processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation, demonstrate exceptional problem‑solving skills, and have the ability to mentor and guide team members.

What You’ll Do

• Develop secure, high quality, performant code, using the required programming languages and tools while following team standards.
• Leverage reusable solutions within the team.
• Collaborate, participate in and approve code reviews.
• Merge production‑ready code for deployment.
• Analyze system performance metrics, find inefficiencies and opportunities for performance optimization.
• Implement based on an existing design.
• Lead refinement and design reviews.
• Serve as a point of contact for production issues, ensuring timely triage and resolution.
• Lead root cause analysis activities for production support.
• Work with teams to clarify goals and deliverables, bring data to planning and prioritization.

Compensation

Salary Range: $103,300 – $172,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who You Are

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in multiple of the following technology domains:
  • Cloud (AWS, serverless, containers, infrastructure as code, cloud computing services)
  • Client‑server (.NET, Java)
  • C++
  • Web (JavaScript, Python)
  • Database (SQL, DynamoDB)
• Proficiency of software testing patterns and methodologies.
• Preferred experience in life insurance domain.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated ability to articulate and share information within the team, across teams and with business stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data‑driven decisions in complex environments.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Remote Network Minimum Requirements

• Minimum Internet Speed: 100Mbps download and 20Mbps upload.
• Internet Type: Fiber, Cable (e.g., Comcast, Spectrum), or DSL.
• Not Permissible: Satellite, cellular broadband (hotspot or otherwise), any other wireless technology, or wired dial‑up.
