Job description
The Role

As a Senior Engineer, you'll join our Platform Engineering team focusing on improving how engineers at Bloomerang build and ship software. You'll tackle friction points across the development lifecycle – some through hands-on engineering work, others by building relationships and driving change across the organization. This role is equal parts building things and changing hearts and minds.

What You Will Do
  • Identify and address friction points across the software development lifecycle - whether that means building tooling, improving infrastructure, evaluating external solutions, or streamlining existing workflows
  • Drive adoption of developer experience improvements across engineering teams, meeting people where they are
  • Build relationships with engineering teams and leaders to understand pain points and establish trust
  • Work directly with teams to pilot, validate, and refine new tools and practices in real development settings
  • Partner with anyone who can benefit - engineers, product managers, QA - to enable better ways of working
  • Take initiative on problems that don\'t have clear owners, even when that means challenging the status quo
  • Actively experiment with AI-powered development tools and help teams integrate them where it makes sense
  • Use data to identify bottlenecks and validate that improvements are actually working
What You Need to Succeed
  • Significant experience in software engineering, with a track record of improving how teams work.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and what actually slows developers down.
  • Systems-level thinking - you see patterns across teams and optimize for the broader engineering organization, not just individual requests.
  • Excel at building trust with skeptics and influencing without authority.
  • A bias toward action: you\'d rather fix something imperfectly than study it perfectly.
  • Comfortable leading through and bringing clarity to ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Experience working with GitHub Actions.
  • Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and a desire to stay current with emerging tools.
  • Passion for helping nonprofits achieve greater impact through better technology.
  • Familiarity with Claude Code and/or prompt engineering using AI or LLM tools.
Benefits

Equipment: Everything you need to be successful, shipped right to your door. You got this. We got you.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $155,000. You may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, as well as applicable employment laws.
