Job summary

PayPal’s Venmo division seeks a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer to own the reliability of our AWS-based services, evolving CI/CD, incident response, and scalable infrastructure.

You will lead by example, mentor engineers, and influence cloud engineering, SRE, and secure deployment within our hybrid work model in Scottsdale, AZ. You’ll collaborate with product teams to improve performance and resilience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field.
  • 5+ years of software development or related experience.
  • 3+ years operating distributed applications 24x7 in Cloud/DevOps/SRE teams.
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing and supporting infrastructure (AWS preferred).
  • Deep hands-on experience with IaaS and PaaS from AWS.
  • Hands-on programming/scripting (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation of all user-facing services, as well as production and development systems. We manage Venmo’s infrastructure comprehensively, encompassing operations, automation, security, compliance, and release engineering. While we are focused on Cloud Engineering, our work integrates elements of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps projects as well. On the DevOps front, we oversee CI/CD infrastructure, develop smart and secure pipelines, implement self-service secret management systems, create development environments, and establish microservices scaffolding and testing frameworks. The quality of the systems we build is paramount to the company, and we prioritize it highly. Our infrastructure must be delivered automatically, thoroughly tested, and scanned for vulnerabilities through synthetic tests.

As a Senior Engineer, you will deliver complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). San Jose, California: ($143,500.00 - $212,850.00 Annually)

Additional Location(s) | Pay Range:

Austin, Texas: ($130,500.00 - $193,600.00 Annually)Scottsdale, Arizona: ($123,500.00 - $183,700.00 Annually)Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
