Job description

Job Description

At Cboe Global Markets, we inspire our people to solve complex challenges together because what we do matters. We provide the financial infrastructure that powers the global economy. As a leading provider of market infrastructure and tradable products, Cboe delivers cutting‑edge trading, clearing and investment solutions to market participants around the world.

Location Overview

Overland Park Xchange (OPx) is located in Overland Park, Kansas, a bustling suburb of Kansas City. The OPx business park offers convenient access to the Kansas City metropolitan area, modern infrastructure, and a collaborative environment ideal for the financial services and technology industries. It provides a balance of high‑quality office space, advanced facilities, and an environment conducive to productivity and growth.

Role Overview

We're looking for an engineer who thinks in systems, leads with vision, and sees AI as a force multiplier for everything we build and ship. As part of our Build and Release Management team, you’ll own the future of how Cboe tests and delivers software—defining where our engineering practice is headed, architecting a next‑generation CI/CD pipeline, and embedding AI across the DevOps lifecycle.

At the heart of this role is Cboe Titanium (Cboe Ti), our high‑performance, globally consistent and locally optimized exchange platform designed to support Cboe's trading operations across options, futures, and equities markets worldwide. You’ll shape how Cboe Ti is built, tested, and released to meet the exacting demands of global markets with speed, precision, and reliability.

This is a hands‑on, highly technical role focused on managing the software build process, overseeing build/test environments, developing and supporting testing tools, and ensuring our weekly release process is successful. You’ll set the standard for reliability in microseconds and releases that happen every week.

Your responsibilities will be:
  • Define and drive the vision for Cboe's build and release engineering practice—from pipeline architecture to tooling strategy to long‑term roadmap.
  • Lead AI adoption across the DevOps lifecycle—deploying intelligent automation for changelog generation, incident summarization, deployment workflows, and infrastructure‑as‑code generation; building with AI, not just using it.
  • Architect, evolve, and own a high‑performance CI/CD pipeline that supports weekly production releases to mission‑critical financial systems.
  • Champion an automation‑first culture—replace repetitive manual work with intelligent solutions.
  • Oversee build, test, and release environments end‑to‑end, focusing on reliability, observability, and rapid recovery.
  • Develop and maintain testing tools, dashboards, and status reporting to give engineers visibility to move fast with confidence.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to influence software design for testability, deployability, and operational excellence, acting as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
  • Continuously evaluate and introduce emerging technologies that keep Cboe's engineering practice at the leading edge.
Vision and Leadership
  • Strategic, forward‑thinking mindset—design systems that scale beyond today’s problems.
  • Strong analytical skills and exacting attention to detail.
  • Ability to build consensus, communicate clearly, and lead change across cross‑functional teams.
AI and Automation (Critical Differentiator)
  • Hands‑on experience deploying AI to automate real DevOps workflows—intelligent release pipelines, AI‑assisted code review, automated incident triage, and more.
  • Practical experience with tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks—LangChain, AutoGen, or equivalents—and applying them to build orchestration or infrastructure challenges.
  • Builder’s instinct: identify friction points where AI can remove friction and act on it.
Core Engineering Skills
  • Advanced Linux expertise: system administration, hardware/software environments, shell scripting.
  • Extensive Python development or scripting experience.
  • Network administration, configuration management, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Deep experience with Git‑based version control and branching strategies.
  • Strong CI/CD tooling experience, including Jenkins.
  • Containerization and virtualization: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS.
Supporting Technical Skills
  • Build tools: Maven, CMake.
  • Package managers: uv, npm.
  • Databases: PostgreSQL (preferred), MySQL or Oracle; working SQL proficiency required.
  • Atlassian toolset (Jira, Confluence).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
You’ll really stand out with:
  • Experience in financial markets with working knowledge of order entry or market data protocols.
  • A track record of taking a build practice from reactive to proactive and making it stick.
Benefits And Perks Of Working For Cboe Global Markets

  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, personal days, sick days, and annual community service days.
